Syrian Refugee Crisis in Lebanon

Last week, Lebanon registered receiving its one millionth refugee from neighboring Syria. Sara Baschetti, head of the UNHCR Beirut and Mount Lebanon Field Office, said that this is not a number to celebrate; it highlights the immense strain the Syrian refugee crisis is placing on Lebanon, a country about the same size as Nagorno Karabakh, but now with a defacto population of about 5.5 million.
