‘This is Armenia, where you will meet your end’

On July 26, Republic of Armenia President Serzh Sargsyan attended a ceremony at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Institute and the passing-out of this year’s graduates from that institute.

“I am sure you realize that the location of today’s solemn ceremony was not randomly chosen.

By gathering in this sacred place and bowing down to the eternal memory of the martyrs, we send a clear message to all enemies of the nation and state that the time has passed when harm against an Armenian goes unpunished. To the person targeting us with a sniper weapon, the conspirator who wishes to plot an attack behind our backs, and the adversary who plans large-scale military operations against us, we say, ‘Be careful, this is Armenia, where you will meet your end,’” said Sargsyan.

In recent weeks, the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Line of Contact has remained tense. On the night of July 25, the villages of Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, Aygepar, Movses, and Chinari in the Tavush Region came under enemy gunfire.

On July 26, Azerbaijan undertook a reconnaissance-in-force towards the northern and north-eastern direction of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani Line of Contact. Serviceman Khachatour Badasyan, born in 1994, was killed in the course of the pre-emptive action.
