Adversary Fire Causes Damage in Martakert

43451On the night of April 25 and the morning of April 26, due to heavy artillery fire from the Azerbaijani side, the region of Martakert suffered some damages. The editor Lusine Zakaryan of the Martakert Newspaper titled “Jraberd” discussed these latest ceasefire violations during an interview with “Artsakhpress.”

“Throughout the night in the direction of Martakert, the Azerbaijani side was constantly firing. Because of the location of the shells, it is clear that they decided to target civilian populated areas and areas of the city where they can cause the most destruction. There were shops, houses, and community facilities that have been completely or partially destroyed,” Said Lusine Zakaryan, adding that there are no news of casualties or individuals wounded.

According to Zakaryan, the civilians living in the region that was targeted did not panic, took cover under shelters, and in the morning continued about their day.

In regards to certain facilities in Mataghis, local school principal Mr. Gegham Aghajanyan told “Artsakhpress,” “Fortunately, this time, the enemy failed to incur heavy damages to the village.”

He added that some residents have incurred damages to their private properties, but houses and community facilities have remained unharmed.

The Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Ministry reported that on the night of April 25 and in the morning of April 26, the Azerbaijani side in addition to targeting military bases, also shelled at civilian settlements of Martakert using MM-21 “Grad” multiple rocket launchers. Martakert was also shelled by artillery fire (8 shells).
