Catholicos Karekin II’s Georgia trip hinges on travel ban decision
Civilnet- Uncertainty surrounds whether Armenian Catholicos Karekin II will be allowed to travel to the funeral of Georgian Catholicos Ilia II, as he remains under a court-imposed travel ban. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said Armenia will be represented at the “highest level,” but remained vague on whether he will attend the funeral in person.
- Marta Kos, the EU’s Enlargement Commissioner, met with Prime Minister Pashinyan and other senior officials in Yerevan. She told CivilNet that the EU’s aid to help Armenia prevent election interference is not interference itself, as it was the Armenian government that requested the support.
