Armenia’s Air Force Conducts Flights Near Contact Line

According to a statement by Karabakh’s Defence Ministry, on August 6 the Armenian air force was conducting patrol flights along the heavily fortified Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact.

“Our military air force is conducting aerial patrols along the entire length of the contact line. The flights are being realized as a result of the recent situation,” the statement reads.

On August 5 at around 11:00 PM, Azerbaijani special forces attempted an incursion along the southeastern portion of the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact near Martuni. As a result of the operation, an Azerbaijani soldier Sahil Yasharoghlu Tarlanle was killed and others sustained injuries. Armenian defense forces were able to thwart the attack and push back the adversary to their starting position.

Over the last few days, the situation on the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact has been aggravated. Azerbaijani infiltration attempts were thwarted by Armenian military units. Conditions along the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the north-eastern Tavush region of Armenia also deteriorated.
