Armenian Soldier Killed in Yet Another Azerbaijani Offensive

In the early morning hours of January 21, at approximately 3:00 A.M., an Azerbaijani reconnaissance and incursion attempt was made near Karvajar on the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact

The press office of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic’s Defense Ministry stated that during the ensuing battle, Armenian soldier Nahapet Asatryan (b. 1982) was killed and Hovhannes Gasparyan (b. 1973) was injured.

Armenian front line units were able to respond accordingly and adequately and push back the adversary to their starting positions.

The NKR Defense Ministry said that it shares the deep pain of the loss and expresses its solidarity with the Asatryan family. It said that an investigation into the clashes is currently underway.

Since the beginning of January, there have been a number of bloody incidents and human casualties along the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact and the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border.
