Ceasefire Violations: NKR Defense Army Reports Three Azerbaijani Soldiers Killed

SM_Sahman32On the eve of Armenian Christmas, Azerbaijan’s military violated the ceasefire regime 320 times by incessantly shooting in the direction of Armenian frontline positions along the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact.

According to the press service of the NKR Defense Ministry, more than 5000 shots were fired from Azerbaijani positions on the evening of January 5 and the early morning hours of January 6. The ministry stated that Azerbaijani military forces utilized different caliber weapons, including 60 and 82 mm mortars and RPG-7 grenades.

In response to these ceasefire violations, the Armenian side undertook corresponding military operations, killing at least three Azerbaijani soldiers according to the ministry. The tense situation is being monitored by the Armenian Armed Forces along the entire length of the Line of Contact.

On the night of January 2nd and the morning of January 3rd, at approximately 3:15 A.M., two separate diversionary attacks by the Azerbaijani army were conducted along the southwestern front of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh Republic.

According to a statement released  at the time by the NKR Defense Ministry, frontline forces of the Karabakh Defense Army were able to push back the adversary to their starting positions. Two Armenian soldiers, Karen Grigoryan and Vardan Mkrtchyan were killed during the battle. Another soldier, Volodya Harutyunyan sustained injuries.
