Syrian-Armenian Families Receive Aid

According to a statement released by the Yerevan Municipality Press Office, efforts to aid low-income Syrian-Armenian families residing in the capital are continuing by the decree of the mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan.

During the first quarter of 2014, hundreds of Syrian-Armenians have received aid through the Municipality’s Social Welfare Department within the scope of social aid programs. Specifically household items, clothing and stationery have been provided to 288 families. Sixty-four families have received food aid and another 47 have received financial aid.

Meanwhile Syrian-Armenian families are still being registered within the vulnerability assessment system. The Municipality and different administrative districts of Yerevan are also working on solving employment issues for these families. Twenty-four Syrian-Armenian families have been registered in recruitment agencies in Yerevan and 25 families have received pension rights. Emergency aid is also being provided to those in need.
