Russian Duma Speaker lambasts European involvement in South Caucasus

  • Armen Grigoryan, the head of Armenia’s Security Council, told reporters today that a reference to an “internationally visible mechanism” for Karabakh may be included in a draft peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, adding that the document is not yet final and talks are ongoing.
  • Anatoly Sidorov, a senior CSTO official, said at a press conference today that the Russian-led military alliance stands ready to help Armenia “if necessary.” Meanwhile, Vyacheslav Volodin, the head of Russia’s lower house of parliament, warned that “those who make appeals to European institutions could simply lose their country.”
