BREAKING: Stepanakert to disband army in ceasefire deal

The Nagorno-Karabakh government has agreed in a ceasefire deal brokered by the Russian peacekeepers to fully disarm and disband its armed forces and remove all heavy equipment and weaponry from the region.

In a statement, Nagorno-Karabakh’s presidency said a “complete cessation of military operations” would begin at 1 PM local time on Wednesday.

Officials from Stepanakert and Baku will meet in the Azerbaijani town of Yevlakh on Thursday to discuss “issues raised by the Azerbaijan side regarding reintegration (and) ensuring the rights and security of Nagorno-Karabakh’s Armenians,” the statement added.
