Armenia may hold snap election amid deadlock over constitutional referendum

  • Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that the ruling Civil Contract party may call a snap parliamentary election in an attempt to secure enough seats to initiate a constitutional referendum needed to move forward with signing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan.

  • An Armenian court has dismissed a lawsuit brought by a former bishop against the Armenian Apostolic Church. This may have significant implications for the criminal case against Catholicos Karekin II and six senior bishops, who were previously charged with disobeying a court order issued in connection with Saroyan’s lawsuit.
