Triada Studio wins Apple's Design Award for Shadowmatic.
Shadowmatic, an iOS app developed by the Yerevan-based Triada Studio has won the prestigious Apple Design Award during Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference in San Francisco on June 8.
Apple’s Design Awards recognize high-quality apps that, according to the company, “combine design and technology in creative, compelling, and powerful ways.”
The awards are handed out annually and highlight the year’s best apps that are available on iOS and Mac. In choosing the winners, Apple looks at functionality, design and enjoyment. Receiving the award can mean an enormous amount of attention for the developer - whether they are indie developers or a major company.
This year’s winners featured a number of young indie developers including Triada Studio based in Yerevan for their Shadowmatic app.
Shadowmatic is an “imagination-stirring” puzzle where you rotate abstract objects in a spotlight to find recognizable silhouettes in projected shadows. It was selected for its attention to detail and excellent execution and perfect representation of multi-game play. It features more than 80 puzzles in atmospheric environments that have realistic textures and shadows.
According to the company, Shadowmatic is tuned and optimized for each iOS device, from iPhone 3GS to the newest iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, iPad Mini Retina, and iPad Air 2.
Triada Studio is a computer graphics and animation studio with over 20 years of industry experience. Shadowmatic is the company’s first project that bridges its vast computer graphics experience with an experimental in-house 3D engine. The team began working on Shadowmatic on March 2012. During the development phase, they continually added new features to their original idea, hence the development process took about three years.
