One of the country’s most beloved cultural events, the annual “Museum Night “ is taking place today, Saturday, May 16. Despite the name, it is an all day event, with participating museums open free of charge all day until midnight. On Monday, May 18, which marks International Museum Day, free visits will be available during regular working hours. Each year is conducted around a common theme, this year's being “Museums Unite a Fragmented World.” Various events, exhibitions, and educational programs are presented around the theme. International Museum Day has been observed internationally since 1977, while Armenia’s “Museum Night” program began in 2005.
