Armenia reports 59% turnout in parliamentary election, highest since 2017

Final voter turnout in Armenia’s parliamentary election on Sunday stands at 58.97%, the Central Electoral Commission reported.

Polling stations closed at 8:00 p.m. local time, around an hour before the announcement of the final turnout figure. In the 2017 parliamentary election, turnout reached 60.86%, which remains the highest on record.

As in previous updates throughout the day, the southern Syunik province recorded the highest participation, with turnout reaching 66.67%. In Yerevan, 58.46% of eligible voters cast their ballots, while the lowest turnout was reported in the Gegharkunik region at 54.6%.

As of the time of publication, vote counting is underway, with preliminary results expected to be released in the coming hours.

A total of 2,005 polling stations were set up across the country.
