Middle Eastern Armenians Add Some “Nefes” to Yerevan’s Cuisine

In Lebanon, there is an expression for art called nefes. It means breath. They say that the art of cooking middle eastern specialties resides in the love and soul you put in the cooking process. In the capital of Armenia, Lebanese and Syrian restaurants have flourished throughout time. We met with the owners of three eateries who moved to Yerevan at different periods of time. They told us about the flavors they brought in their luggages, the challenges they face or are still facing in Armenia.
