Algae Bloom Threatens Armenia’s Largest Lake

For two consecutive years, Lake Sevan, the largest alpine freshwater lake in the South Caucasus,  has been blooming with green algae. Despite the fact that in recent days the water has been returning to its natural blue color, scientists remain wary. What is the reason behind the lake's algae bloom? Is it facing the danger of turning into a swamp? What do the experts say?
