Armenia raises growth projections above 7%: THIS WEEK IN BUSINESS

  • Armenia’s Central Bank lowered its benchmark interest rate by 50 basis points to 9.75%, as inflation continues to ease. It marks the bank’s third interest rate cut so far this year.
  • Armenia’s monetary authorities hiked the country’s projected economic growth this year from 6.9% to 7.2%, citing strong showings in the services and construction sectors.
  • The company behind a smelter under construction in the Armenian border village of Yeraskh dismissed a since-deleted statement by the European Union saying the firm plans to relocate the plant.
