The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic will be formally dissolved by the end of the year.
All government agencies are ordered to be disbanded by January 1, 2024, according to a decree issued Thursday by President Samvel Shahramanyan.
“The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (Artsakh) ceases to exist,” said the decree, which came into force immediately upon publication.
Meanwhile, the number of arrivals to Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh since the region’s surrender last week topped 65,000 as of 8 a.m. local time Thursday.
Those numbers mean more than half of Nagorno-Karabakh’s population has fled the region in less than a week.
