Armenia condemns Israeli strikes on Iran

Armenia’s Foreign Ministry on Friday condemned Israel’s overnight airstrikes on Iran and urged all parties to immediately cease hostilities and respect international law.

“The unilateral attack against Iran is a matter of serious concern, particularly given its timing on the eve of a new round of negotiations, which now face considerable risks,” the ministry said in a statement. Yerevan warned that such actions could endanger both regional stability and global peace.

The statement followed a series of Israeli airstrikes reportedly targeting uranium enrichment facilities, missile bases, and major cities across Iran. The operation, which Israeli officials described as a preemptive strike, aimed to cripple Iran’s nuclear program.

According to Iranian sources, the attack killed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Hossein Salami and several other senior IRGC officers. The Israel Defense Forces claimed the strikes were necessary because Iran was “closer than ever” to creating nuclear weapons.

Iran has vowed a “powerful response” against both Israel and the United States, although Washington has denied any involvement in the attack.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry reiterated its call for restraint and the urgent resumption of diplomatic efforts to avoid further escalation.
