Armenian government may sell off stake in telecoms operator Viva: THIS WEEK IN BUSINESS
- A senior Central Bank official said a technical failure was behind recent outages of Armenia’s national payment network. There is no evidence of a cyberattack, and no personal information has leaked as a result of the outages, Armen Nurbekyan added.
- The Central Bank held interest rates steady at 6.75%, citing heightened levels of uncertainty around U.S. trade policy and elevated global geopolitical tensions.
- The government took a step toward selling its minority stake in Viva Armenia, one of the country’s main telecommunications operators, to the company’s majority owners. It expects $50 million in compensation for handing over its 20% stake to Fedilco Group.
