The issue of women’s employment is not just about jobs: Tatevik Stepanyan (English subtitles)

Women’s participation in Armenia’s labor market is 49%, compared to 70% for men. According to Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Tatevik Stepanyan, the main obstacle is the unequal burden of caregiving, which particularly pushes women aged 25–39 out of the workforce. The state is trying to find solutions through retraining programs, flexible work arrangements, expansion of preschool services, paternity leave, and the development of the care economy. However, without infrastructure, services, and cultural change, women’s economic potential will continue to remain unrealized.
