Armenia Climbs 17 Places in Economist's 2019 Democracy Index

According to the 2019 Democracy Index by The Economist, Armenia has jumped 17 places, from 103rd to 86th place, surpassing neighboring Georgia. The report gives a special mention to the good conduct of the 2018 parliamentary elections in the country. 

The Index gives a review of "the state of world democracy" for 165 independent states and two territories. It is based on five categories: electoral process and pluralism; civil liberties; the functioning of government; political participation; and political culture.
