Light, Shadow, Darkness
The documentary tells the story of those singing in the Choir of the Armenian Association of the Blind. The choir was formed in the USSR and struggled through the difficult social conditions in a newly independent Armenia. Since 1976, roughly 70 percent of members of the choir are blind. Following Armenia’s “velvet revolution” in 2018, new hopes and expectations have arisen for greater support and better conditions. Yet, today, the choir's fate remains obscure.
The film was produced with the support of OPEN Media Hub, with financial support from the EU.
The documentary was screened in the Regional short film competition of the 16th Golden Apricot international film festival in Yerevan, as well as in the 14th Pomegranate film festival in Toronto, Canada.
