Cengiz Aktar, the author of numerous books on the European Union and its relations with Turkey discusses the possible German adoption of a resolution on Genocides in the Ottoman Empire, the first ever where a country might also recognize its own involvement and says it is ridiculous to weigh today’s practical concerns against a major historical crime, especially at a time when memory is forcefully coming back to Turkey. Dr. Aktar also talks about his own personal feelings as one of the initiators of the "I Apologize" campaign following Hrant Dink’s assassination, which gathered as many as 35.000 signatures.
