Anna Astvatsaturian Turcotte and her family fled the violence Baku in 1989 as the Soviet Union was collapsing and the Karabakh Movement was gaining momentum. After living in Armenia for three years in terrible conditions, her family left for the United States and settled in North Dakota. Anna wrote about her family’s harrowing experience in a book called “Nowhere, A Story of Exile.”
