Special Report: Tensions Soar as Baku Blocks Humanitarian Aid to Karabakh

  • Tensions between Yerevan and Baku continued to escalate today when Azerbaijani border guards began blocking Red Cross and peacekeeper vehicles from delivering humanitarian aid to Nagorno-Karabakh.
  • Armenian border guards thwarted an attempt by Azerbaijani border guards to advance into Armenian territory near the Lachin corridor, according to Armenia’s National Security Service.
  • The country’s security service reported one Armenian border guard was injured when an Azerbaijani serviceman opened fire on the Armenian village of Tegh. Details of the guard’s condition have not been made public.
  • Diplomats from more than three dozen countries visited the Armenian village of Yeraskh, which has come under Azerbaijani fire three times just this week. Yesterday, two Indian nationals were injured when Azerbaijani units shelled the village.
