Baghdad-Yerevan-Erbil Flight to be Launched

20090818_012951_Iraqi_Airways_7The first-ever Baghdad-Yerevan-Erbil flight will take place on February 26. Erbil is the largest city and capital of the Kurdistan region in Northern Iraq. The spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Agency of Armenia, Ruben Grdzelyan made the announcement and said that the flight would be implemented by Iraqi Airways.

Regular flights will be made two times a week, on Thursdays and Sundays utilizing Bombardier CRJ900 and Boeing 737 airplanes

The first flight from Baghdad will arrive in Yerevan on February 26 bringing several members of Iraq’s government and approximately 50 Iraqi tour operators.

Iraqi Airways is the national carrier of the government of Iraq, its headquarters are on the grounds of Baghdad International Airport. Iraqi Airways is one of the oldest airlines in the Middle East. The Armenian representative of the new flight is Avia-Service Company.
