According to the President’s Press Office, on April 14 President Serzh Sargsyan presented the newly appointed Prime Minister of Armenia to members of the government and officials invited to the government session.
“As you all know on April 13, I appointed President of the National Assembly and deputy head of the Republican Party Hovik Abrahamyan as Prime Minister, a man who is trusted by the majority of parliamentarians in the National Assembly,” said President Sargsyan.
According to the President, on April 13, the Armenian people were adequately informed and presented with the procedures and issues that the Prime Minister and the new government will undertake. The President asked members of the government to carry out their responsibilities faithfully and diligently while he forms a new government with the Prime Minister within 20 days.
During the session, Hovik Abrahamyan thanked the President for trusting him and asked members of the present government to continue their work with enthusiasm until a new government is formed.
“Mister President, I wish to tell my colleagues that we are not biased toward any candidate. I have to ask my colleagues to continue carrying out their responsibilities with even greater enthusiasm. Mister President, with your cooperation/help we will present the new government within the deadline defined in the Constitution. We will take into consideration the work carried out by present members of the government and to what extent they will be able to realize new projects in the future. Thank you,” remarked the newly appointed Prime Minister.
