President of Nagorno Karabakh Republic Bako Sahakyan with Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson in Office Andrzej Kasprzyk
Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson in Office Andrzej Kasprzyk met with President of Nagorno Karabakh Bako Sahakyan on November 16. According to the press office of the President, the interlocutors spoke about the situation at the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact during the meeting.
Bako Sahakyan said that the shooting down of a helicopter of the Karabakh Defense Army near the Line of Contact by Azerbaijan was “insidious and destructive.”
“Through their conduct, Azerbaijan is threatening the preservation of stability and peace in the region and preventing the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group mediation process,” Sahakyan said, underscoring the necessity for the international community to be more rigorous in its assessments and to call out the aggressor. He noted that the provocative actions by Azerbaijan will not remain unanswered.
Kasprzyk had previously met with Davit Tonoyan, Armenia’s deputy defense minister. Tonoyan had stressed the need for an immediate investigation of the helicopter crash site.
According to azatutyun.am, the speaker of NKR President Davit Papayan said it is possible that Kasprzyk will visit the crash site on Monday or Tuesday.
On November 12, a helicopter of the Karabakh Defense Army was shot down while conducting training flights along the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact at about 1:45 p.m. Three soldiers perished in that attack.
